શાસ્ત્રો મુજબ દેવપોઢી અગિયારસથી ભગવાન સૂતેલા હોવાથી તેમને દેવઉઠની અગિયારના રોજ જગાડવામાં આવે છે. તેથી આ દિવસને પ્રબોધિની એકાદશીના નામે પણ ઓળખવામાં આવે છે. આ દિવસે તુલસી વિવાહ રચવામાં આવે છે.
પુરાણગ્રંથો મુજબ ભગવાન વિષ્ણુએ તુલસી સાથે ભાવાત્મક વિવાહ કર્યા તેથી ગોપીઓ તુલસીને પોતાની સૌતન માને છે. આ દિવસે તુલસીને શ્રૃંગારિત કરવામાં આવે છે અને શેરડી વડે મંડપ બાંધવામાં આવે છે. તુલસીજીને લાલ કે લીલા રંગની ચુંદડી ઓઢાડવામાં આવે છે. તુલસી વિવાહ સાંજના મુહુર્તમાં કરવામાં આવે છે.
🪴 તુલસી વિવાહ કથા 🪴
કાર્તિક શુક્લ એકાદશીએ તુલસી પૂજનનો ઉત્સવ મનાવવામાં આવે છે. પરંતુ ઉત્તર ભારતમાં આનું વિશેષ મહત્વ છે. તુલસીને વિષ્ણુ પ્રિયા પણ કહેવામાં આવે છે. આમ તો તુલસી વિવાહને માટે કાર્તિક શુક્લ નવમીની તિથિ યોગ્ય છે. પરંતુ કેટલાક લોકો અગિયારસથી પૂનમ સુધી તુલસી પૂજન કરીને પાંચમાં દિવસે તુલસીનું લગ્ન કરે છે. તુલસી વિવાહની આ પધ્ધતિ સૌથી વધુ પ્રખ્યાત છે.

🪴 તુલસી વિવાહ કેવી રીતે કરશો ?🪴
ત્રણ મહિના પહેલાથી તુલસીના છોડને નિયમિત સીંચો અને તેનું પૂજન કરો.
પ્રબોધિનિ, ભીષ્મપંચક અથવા જ્યોતિ શાસ્ત્રોક્ત વિવાહ મૂર્હતમાં મંગળગીતો અને મંત્રોચ્ચાર દ્વારા તોરણ-મંડપ વગેરેનું નિર્માણ કરો.
ત્યાર પછી ચાર બ્રાહ્મણો દ્વારા ગણપતિ-માતૃકા પૂજન અને પુળ્યાવાચન કરાવો.
ત્યાર બાદ શ્રી લક્ષ્મીનારાયણ અને તુલસીના છોડ સાથે અથવા સોના-ચાંદીની તુલસીને શુભ આસન પર પૂર્વ તરફ મોઢુ રાખીને બેસાડવાં.

🪴 તુલસીનું મહત્વ 🪴
તુલસી એક સાધારણ છોડ જરૂર છે, પરંતુ ભારતના લોકો માટે તે ગંગા-જમના જેવી પવિત્ર છે.
પૂજા સામગ્રીમાં તુલસીપત્ર જરૂરી સમજવામાં આવે છે. કહેવાય છે કે આના સિવાય ભગવાન સંતુષ્ટ થઈને પ્રસાદ નથી ગ્રહણ કરતાં.
નવમી, દશમીએ વ્રત અને પૂજન કરી બીજા દિવસે તુલસીના છોડને કોઈ બ્રાહ્મણને આપવો ખૂબ જ શુભ માનવામાં આવે છે.
સ્નાન કર્યા પછી દરરોજ તુલસીના છોડને પાણી આપવું સ્વાસ્થ્ય માટે અતિ ઉત્તમ છે.
તુલસીના કારણે આસપાસના વાતાવરણની હવા શુધ્ધ થઈ જાય છે.
તુલસીના પાનનું અર્ક કેટલીય બીમારીયો દૂર કરે છે.
